Grand Prix of Indianapolis Race Report

“We started 15th and had a monster start – went straight up to seventh. From there we settled into a rhythm and everything was looking great, and then the yellow came out and my race kind of went sideways. We pitted early after that then I had to save fuel, it just snowballed. We found ourselves trickling back from fifth, lost a couple spots on the yellow and then found ourselves in ninth. It could have gone better, but we salvaged a top 10 for DHL on what was a pretty messy weekend otherwise.”

Race Day at the Grand Prix of Indianapolis brought frigid temperatures for 82-laps of running at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. From green flag to checkered, the Andretti Autosport cars showed competitive pace, even if not reflected in the finishing results.

2014 GP of Indy podium finisher Ryan Hunter-Reay took the green flag in 15th, immediately gaining eight positions on the start on his way to running with the top five. Hunter-Reay went on to finish ninth.

With the Grand Prix of Indianapolis in the books, all eyes now turn to the main stage of Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race. The 2.5-mile oval opens Monday for rookie practice followed by the full field’s first preparation day for the May 29 race.
