Firestone 550 Race Preview

Firestone550_2013Defending series champion Ryan Hunter-Reay heads to Texas ranked third in the points standing, only 15 points out of the lead. He suffered mechanical issues in the 2013 IndyCar race at Texas Motor Speedway, leaving the American with a 21st-place finish. His best finish with the Series in Fort Worth came in 2010 with a seventh-place effort.

“Excited to be heading to Texas for what is always a high intensity, action packed race. This is a home race for our partners at Sun Drop, so we are looking forward to our annual visit to the Dr Pepper Snapple Group headquarters. We were sidelined with mechanical issues last year early in the race, but Marco (Andretti) and James (Hinchcliffe) had pretty good cars so I’m optimistic for Saturday night. The DHL Chevy is four spots higher in the championship standings than we were at this time last year, so we’re right in the title fight.”
