“We just lost the balance and maybe went with the wrong downforce for the higher track temps for qualifying mid-day compared to the beginning of the day. This morning we were P6, we just lost it with the wrong downforce level so will have to be smart with strategy tomorrow for the DHL car.”
The Verizon IndyCar Series field of 25 took to the 14-turn road course inside open-wheel racing’s most notable oval racetrack today. Veteran driver Ryan Hunter-Reay showed promising speed in the morning practice session with a sixth-place standing and will line up 15th for Saturday’s 82-lap race.
