Guerra to partner with Hunter-Reay on ‘Team Americas’

race_of_champions_logoThe 2012 Race Of Champions will feature ‘Team Americas’ for the first time as FIA Production World Rally Champion Benito Guerra lines up alongside IndyCar Series Champion Ryan Hunter-Reay. The duo will pair up for the ROC Nations Cup at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on December 14-16.

Guerra (pictured right, with co-driver Borja Rozada) earned Mexico’s first FIA-backed motor sport title since Pedro Rodriguez in the early Seventies when he took the 2012 Production World Rally Championship. After early-season wins in Argentina and his home event in Mexico, Guerra went into the finale in Spain still needing a result to seal the title. But his rivals faltered and Guerra clung on for a third victory of the year to triumph in glorious style, 21 points clear of his nearest challenger.

Guerra will now make his Race Of Champions debut in Bangkok, facing greats from many of motor sport’s biggest disciplines. He will also join the USA’s 2012 IndyCar Series Champion Ryan Hunter-Reay on ‘Team Americas’ in the ROC Nations Cup.

Guerra said: “This is a great end-of-season challenge and it’s fantastic for my career to be part of ROC 2012. I’m very excited to compete with all of these great drivers and join Team Americas with Ryan Hunter-Reay. See you all in Bangkok!”

The Race Of Champions is being staged for the 25th consecutive year in 2012, bringing together the world’s greatest drivers from motor sport’s main disciplines – including Formula 1, world rally, touring cars, Le Mans, MotoGP, Indycar and the X-Games – and setting them free to battle head-to-head in identical machinery.

ROC 2012 will take place on a specially constructed tarmac track with two parallel lanes winding their way round Bangkok’s Rajamangala Stadium. Drivers pair up for the ROC Nations Cup, this year scheduled for Saturday 15 December, ahead of the individual Race Of Champions on Sunday 16 December.

Tickets are now on sale. For further information and details about access to hi-res imagery please visit www.raceofchampions.com. Sign up for all the latest updates at www.raceofchampions.com, @raceofchampions on Twitter or Race Of Champions on Facebook.
