Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio – Race 2 Report

“I think all-in-all it was a pretty good day considering we started eighth and finished third. It was great to have an all Andretti podium for the whole team. I think everyone really needed this. I was a little disappointed losing second place due to contact with Scott Dixon, we’ve raced each other super clean for many years, never any contact, so to lose a second place – or a shot at the win – today, that was definitely disappointing. It was a good day for DHL, our partners AutoNation and Honda – really appreciate everyone’s support and hopefully we can celebrate after getting on the top step at the Harvest Grand Prix in Indianapolis.”

Another weekend of doubleheader INDYCAR racing is complete as the field of 23 cars took to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course today for a second 75-lap race to complete the rescheduled race weekend.

Morning rain showers ushered in plenty of drama for the split-field qualifying session, as drivers worked to navigate the wet-but-drying track. The result was multiple red flags and lost track time for all. Capstone Racing driver Colton Herta came away with his first pole of the 2020 season, and first at the 2.258-mile track.

The race saw an exciting first lap via a multi-car incident, but the Andrett stable came through clean. Herta, Alexander Rossi and Ryan Hunter-Reay quickly showed their dominance and went on to capture a sweep of the podium for the Andretti Autosport Honda team.

  • STARTED: 8th // FINISHED: 3rd
  • CHAMPIONSHIP: 9th (260 pts.)
  • OF NOTE: Made contact with Scott Dixon early in the second stint of the race // Secured his 99th top-10 finish at Andretti Autosport, and 47th podium of his INDYCAR career // Climbs two spots in the championship standings

The NTT INDYCAR SERIES now enters a two-weekend break before retuning to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Rounds 12 and 13 of competition.

The INDYCAR Harvest GP Doubleheader weekend kicks off Oct. 1 with practice and qualifying, followed by races Oct. 2 and Oct. 3, live broadcast on USA and NBC, respectively.
