Honda INDY Toronto Race Report

“It was a nightmare of a day. We got dumped on Lap 1 and went to last. We came in early to pit for primary tires and get on an off-strategy. We started to settle into a rhythm and then my seat belts came loose so we had to come in. From there we were just doomed; hoping for a Hail Mary or some type of yellow to come at the right time. We just missed the balance today overall. Hoping for a better weekend in Iowa.”

The 85-lap race, bookended by full course cautions, saw many different strategies playing out through the field. But it was the strategy of those that led the field to the green flag that prevailed, earning their podium-finishes.

  • STARTED: 11th // FINISHED: 16th
  • CHAMPIONSHIP: 7th (285 pts.)
  • OF NOTE: Was collected in a multi-car incident the opening lap, came away without damage but lost time after having to run off course // Went off-strategy and ran as high as fifth // Returned to the pits for an unscheduled stop to fix loosened safety belts, again losing track position

The team quickly heads back to Indianapolis to turn the cars around and prepare for the return of night racing at Iowa Speedway next weekend – the first Saturday night race since 2015.
