Ryan Hunter‑Reay Qualifies 25th for the 109th Indianapolis 500

Ryan Hunter‑Reay, piloting the No. 23 Chevrolet for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing / Cusick Motorsports, secured 27th position on the grid during Saturday’s qualifying session at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. His solid four-lap average speed of 230.363 mph marks a consistent and reliable run. On Monday, May 19th, INDYCAR penalized two Team Penske entries due to a technical infraction and moved them to the rear of the starting grid – moving RHR up 2 spots.

Despite not making the “Fast 12” cut, RHR avoided the bump zone drama and will start confidently in the mid-pack. His speed was closely matched with teammate Jack Harvey, who slotted in just behind him at 230.348 mph (28th).

Ryan Hunter‑Reay may be starting just outside the top 25, but his veteran presence, sharp oval strategy, and reliable pace make him a strong contender to climb through the pack and challenge on race day. Expect a methodical, experience-driven charge toward the front as the Indianapolis 500 kicks into high gear!
