IMS ROAD COURSE INDYCAR HISTORY
- Starts: 10
- Best Start: 3 (2014)
- Best Finish: 2 (2014)
“This weekend will be another first for INDYCAR and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as we share the road course inside the greatest race track in the world. This will be a tremendous opportunity for motorsport fans to experience two very different disciplines racing on the same track. Following our fourth-place result at Nashville, we will look to build on that momentum this weekend in Indy.”
The Big Machine Spiked Coolers Grand Prix will be the 11th INDYCAR SERIES event conducted on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) road course and the 28 cars entered in this weekend’s race is the largest field of cars entered in a non-Indianapolis 500 INDYCAR SERIES race since 29 cars started at Kentucky Speedway in 2011. While none of the current Andretti Autosport drivers have finished on the top step of the podium on the IMS road course, all four have finished on the podium and three of the four have second-place finishes.
Ryan Hunter-Reay hopes to build on last weekend’s season-best finish with another trip to the podium on the IMS road course. In his 10 starts on the road course, Hunter-Reay has two podiums and along with teammate Hinchcliffe, Hunter-Reay is one of only eight drivers to compete in every INDYCAR SERIES event on the IMS road course.
