Grand Prix of Long Beach Qualifying Report

grand prix of long beach“We advanced into the top 12 in qualifying, but unfortunately in that top-12 session we had a lot of traffic come out in front of us. We kept getting stacked up and backed up and never really got into rhythm. We’ll be starting 11th and hopefully we put the right tire strategy into play to get it done from there. It’s great to be back at Long Beach in an Indy car and hopefully we can make it onto the top step of the podium.”

For one last time in 2021, the NTT INDYCAR SERIES took to the track to set the starting grid for Sunday’s race. The traditional knock-out qualifying session resulted in all four Andretti cars outside the Firestone Fast Six, despite speeds topping the charts through the weekend’s practice sessions. The team’s grid positions will lead to 85 laps of racing with the need for well-planned out strategies, fast cars and clean work in the pits.

  • STARTING POSITION: 11th
  • QUALIFYING TIME: 1:08.8576 [Segment 1]

The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach goes green at 12:45 p.m. PT tomorrow, with Grand Marshal Michael Andretti giving the starting command.
