Big Machine Grand Prix Race Report

“Well that’s it for round two of the Indy GP. We had a really tough day. It was a good start. We kind of fell back a little on the primaries as we anticipated, but we had the speed when we put the [Firestone Alternate] reds on that we needed. Unfortunately, we had some hiccups in the pits that set us back and then we got absolutely railroaded and taken out by [Sebastien] Bourdais. INDYCAR decided not to call it and we lost a total of eight or nine spots, which put an end to our day. I let everyone know what I thought about it afterwards, all parties involved. We’ll move onto Gateway and hopefully have a good weekend there.”

A historic racing weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is underway with the NTT INDYCAR SERIES kicking off a motorsports tripleheader. Late race contact from Bourdais devastated Ryan Hunter-Reay’s top-10 run, forcing the 28 machine to the rear of the field with no time to recover.

  • STARTED: 13th // FINISHED: 18th
  • CHAMPIONSHIP: 16th (189 pts.)
  • OF NOTE:
    • Made contact in Turn 13 with Sebastien Bourdais pushing the No. 28 machine to the back of the field

Next up the team heads to the final oval of the season at World Wide Technology Raceway in one week’s time.
