Detroit Grand Prix Race 1 Report

“We had a pretty good start. Running in a position to pit off strategy by pitting early. I was just pushing hard out there to make sure we got the most of the new tires and unfortunately I just smacked the left rear against the wall. It bent the toe link and that was it. We ran the rest of the day five laps down. So we just need to re-rack them and go after it again in the DHL Honda tomorrow.”

It was an action-packed day in Detroit as the 25-car NTT INDYCAR SERIES field hit the streets of Belle Isle for both qualifying and the first race of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix doubleheader.

  • STARTED: 8th // FINISHED: 21st
  • CHAMPIONSHIP: 17th (103 pts.)
  • OF NOTE:
    • Attempted to go off strategy with an early pitstop, but unfortunately made contact with the wall, causing the No. 28 DHL Honda to come to pit lane and evaluate the damage to the left rear tire

Tomorrow’s coverage of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Race 2 begins with qualifying at 9 a.m. ET on NBC Sports Network and coverage of Race 2 starting at 12 p.m. ET on NBC.
