Genesys 300 Race Report

“All in all, it’s a disappointing night for the DHL team. We lost the right front (tire), went down to the cords and nearly ended up in the wall. We had to pit, and then lost two laps – the yellow came out right at that moment. Had we been able to last another lap or two, we would have been right there to fight with the top 12. It’s unfortunate. We fought our way back, got our lap back later in the night and climbed some positions on restarts. We’re going to have to turn the car upside down tonight and go with another setup tomorrow and really get after it.”

After rain delayed the morning at Texas Motor Speedway and pushed the weekend’s only practice session back nearly two hours, qualifying for both events was cancelled leading to grid positions for tonight’s Genesys 300 being set by championship points standings (post St. Pete) and the field being set based off of championship points following this evening’s event for Sunday’s XPEL 375.

  • STARTED: 21st // FINISHED: 16th
  • CHAMPIONSHIP: 20th (36 pts.)
  • OF NOTE:
    • Encountered an issue with the right front tire resulting in the 28 team needing to make their first pit stop a few laps earlier than planned
    • Hunter-Reay will roll off in 20th for tomorrow’s Race 2

The doubleheader weekend rolls on in the Lone Star State with Race 2 on NBCSN at 5 p.m. ET tomorrow.
