Grand Prix of Portland Qualifying Report

grand prix of portland“Unfortunately, we were only able to take part in Practice 1 today. We had some electrical issues that resulted in an engine change. The guys did a great job thrashing all day, throwing wire looms at it, boxes and everything else. It was pretty much everything we could do except for the engine change and that kept us from practicing. At the end, we got a warm-up out of it. I actually got to feel the car and find my way around this place before the race. It’s all in front of us tomorrow, the whole grid included, so we’ll have our head down and hopefully move through it.”

The NTT INDYCAR SERIES kicked off the Grand Prix of Portland weekend today at Portland International Raceway for the first of three West Coast races to end the season. It was a packed day of on-track action with a 75-minute practice to start the day then straight into knockout qualifying before capping off the day with a final 30-minute practice session to prep for tomorrow’s 110-lap race.

Ryan Hunter-Reay will take tomorrow’s start from the back of the field after a mechanical issue forced an unplanned engine change for the No. 28.
