Countdown to 100th Indy 500 zooms to Capitol Hill

he countdown to the 100th Indy 500 is coming to Capitol Hill.

Reps. Andre Carson, D-Indianapolis, and Susan Brooks, R-Carmel, are hosting a 100th Running of the Indy 500 reception with 2014 winner Ryan Hunter-Reay Tuesday.

Hunter-Reay will have with him the Borg-Warner Trophy as well as some special edition 100th Running Milk bottles.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is ramping up the milk portion of this year’s race so that when the winning driver is handed his traditional glass of milk May 29, as many as 100,000 fans can join him for a toast.

(We trust that, unlike at the race track, none of the milk at the Capitol Hill event will be poured over anyone’s head.)

And if that isn’t enough to draw a crowd, Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles will be on hand to thank lawmakers who are backing a bill that would allow racetracks to write off investments over seven years, instead of 15.
